Rothman Rocco LaRuffa, LLP is regarded as one of the New York Metropolitan area’s leading boutique labor law firms.
Our attorneys have decades of experience representing labor unions in the private and public sectors throughout the northeastern United States. We represent unions of all stripes and sizes, as our clients include international, national and local unions in a wide range of professions: auto, retail, culinary, white and blue collar government, building services, healthcare, plumbing and manufacturing, just to name a few.
We are a full-service firm assisting unions in organizing campaigns, negotiating collective bargaining agreements, and representing unions in litigation, arbitration, and administrative proceedings at the regional offices of the National Labor Relations Board, PERB and PERC. Our experience also extends to issues with the Department of Labor and defending unions against charges regarding the duty of fair representation. Our union clients know that they can call upon us day or night if they have an issue, as no matter what, we are there for them.
Employee Benefit Plans
Rothman Rocco LaRuffa LLP is proud to represent numerous union-affiliated welfare, pension, 401(k) and training and joint apprenticeship plans. Our attorneys attend plan trustee meetings and provide day-to-day advice on plan administration, along with advice concerning fiduciary responsibilities and compliance with ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and other laws applicable to benefit plans.
We are also proficient in, and routinely handle litigation on behalf of benefit plans, such as suits regarding benefit claims, delinquent contributions and withdrawal liability. Our experience also extends to assisting plans in navigating audits from the United States Department of Labor, Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, IRS, and various state agencies.
We also help our union clients design and implement employee benefit plans, and during collective bargaining agreement negotiations we advise unions on employee benefit proposals.
